Kuala Lumpur Art Book Fair (KLABF), is a vibrant energy and vitality of a new wave in the Malaysia’s creative scene. Here, self-publishing artists and communities unite and collaborate to showcase their best designs and printed works, offering audiences an immersive window into some of the world’s most interesting indie publishers, artbook makers and artists. 

How do we spark public appreciation for the art of publishing and inspire them to experience the community’s passion firsthand? 

STRATEGY

The core communication strategy aimed at breaking down the art and design terminology, emphasising KLABF’s unique indie experience and the beautiful works of the self-publishing community. RUBIX Communications first rolled out a targeted marketing announcement to create awareness of KLABF 2023’s presence in the industry. A pre-event teaser campaign followed to generate anticipation by spotlighting the fair’s highlights and experiences. Finally, an intimate media and influencer tour as well as interviews were planned to provide up-close and personal insights into the fair, organiser and participating artists. 

STRATEGY

The strategy centered on storytelling, emphasising the fusion of tradition and technology, bridging the old and new, and strategically aligned with the celebrations of Merdeka and Malaysia Day. The narrative was meticulously crafted to engage audiences effectively, while a multi-faceted approach was deployed to ensure broad visibility across various audience segments throughout the country.

RESULTS

The impact of these communication efforts generated a widespread of noises across multiple channels. It received notable mentions in mainstream media across different languages, cementing its status as a well-celebrated art book event. There were also conversations about KLABF 2023 thrived across digital platform, broadening its reach across audiences of various demographics.
